Congress is still on summer break, but very soon politicians will return to Washington and get back to work attacking your gun rights.
And when they do, one of the most sweeping gun control bills we’ve seen in years will still be sitting in the United States Senate.
I’m talking about S. 4339, the massive, 50+ page gun control bill filed by Senators Tim Kaine and Mark Warner. We sounded the alarm when this bill was first introduced, but with the elections coming into view, this threat is only increasing.
That’s why we need gun owners to sign their petitions against this bill. Of course, Senators Klobuchar and Smith would vote for this garbage. We all know that.
But your petition reminds them that if Democrats ram gun control like this through the Senate, they can kiss their hopes of regaining the majority in November goodbye!
(Virginia Senators Mark Warner and Tim Kaine are the lead sponsors of S. 4339, which would crush the Second Amendment.)
S. 4339 was written to take much of the gun control agenda Democrats imposed on Virginia and spread it across the entire country.
And this isn’t some one-issue gun control bill. It’s a monster bill designed to obliterate our gun rights by:
►► Banning sales of the AR-15 and similar rifles
►► Banning all private firearm sales
►► Rationing handgun purchases to one per month
►► Bribing states into passing ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ laws
►► Dictating how gun owners store firearms inside our homes
►► Banning homemade firearms, including 80% lowers
►► Stripping gun rights over certain misdemeanor offenses
►► Expanding so-called ‘Gun Free Zones’
►► Criminalizing failing to report a lost gun within two days
►► Expanding the federal Lautenberg gun ban
And that’s not even the entire bill.
The Democrats aren’t trying to pass one gun control law with S. 4339. They’re trying to take a pile of restrictions that gun owners have been fighting at the state level for years and impose them nationwide.
Of course, none of these restrictions will stop violent criminals.
The Democrats know all of this. They don’t care. The people who will actually be forced to comply with this garbage are law-abiding gun owners like you and me.
That’s why S. 4339 was dangerous when it was introduced — and it’s still dangerous today.
The biggest mistake gun owners can make is assuming that because a gun control bill hasn’t moved yet, it never will. We’ve seen how Washington works far too many times to believe that.
Bills can sit dormant for months while deals are made behind closed doors. Then a shooting, a media firestorm, or some other crisis happens, and suddenly politicians are demanding that Congress “do something” immediately.
That’s when legislation like S. 4339 can go from sitting on a shelf to being rammed through Congress at breakneck speed. We cannot wait until that happens to start fighting.
We want Klobuchar and Smith hearing from Minnesota gun owners now, reminding them that their caucus will be crushed in November if they vote for this!
