The 2023 Legislative Session has officially kicked off in St. Paul and I need your advice!
Our team has been working for several weeks to lock down our legislative goals for the year, along with the budget we need to fund them.
Tim Walz won the governor’s race and truly believes he has a ‘mandate from the people’ to advance the most aggressive gun control agenda in American history.
And while gun owners won some key races around the state, control of the Minnesota House AND Senate are in the hands of the radical Left Democrats.
The bottom line is that we’re in for a hell of a year in our fight to defend the Second Amendment here in Minnesota!
That’s why I am emailing you today.
With the onslaught that we know is coming, I need to make tough choices on where to focus our time and our financial resources in 2023. And since we work for our members, I am asking for your input on how you want us to proceed!
After everything Minnesota Gun Rights has been through last year — blocking the Red Flag laws and Statewide Gun Registration, defeating the so-called Assault Weapons Ban in D.C., and exposing gun-grabbers at election time — we simply can’t fight every battle that’s before us with the same intensity.
The truth is that without a quick infusion of funds from MGR members, we may have to sit out several of these fights.
But before you fill out your ballot, let me take a moment to tell you where things stand here in St. Paul, and the types of threats that will be facing us this session.
Fresh off his victory against Scott Jensen, Tim Walz is going all-in on gun control in 2023.
It’s likely that we’ll see action on a wide array of bills.
But one of the most popular gun control bills right now is Senator Ron Latz’ Red Flag Gun Confiscation bill.
Make no mistake, this legislation is the biggest threat we face in the year ahead because of its “bipartisan support,” meaning that there are already backstabbing Republicans who are on board.
Red Flag Gun Confiscation bills destroy the idea of ‘due process’ for gun owners by empowering liberal judges to order your firearms seized and your gun rights revoked — all before you’ve ever been convicted of a crime!
Instead of the courts presuming your innocence until you are convicted of a criminal charge by a jury, ‘Red Flag’ laws empower leftist judges to simply declare your guilt and force you to prove your innocence after the fact!
These bills make it so virtually anyone can file one of these complaints; meaning that your bitter ex, your liberal aunt who hates Ron DeSantis, or an angry neighbor who wants the Second Amendment repealed could ruin your life with a simple phone call!
Already House Speaker Melissa Hortman is threatening to streamline this legislation through the House where the DFL has a 70-64 majority.
Bottom line: you and I must take this threat very seriously and stop this madness with a political two-by-four!
But ‘Red Flag Gun Confiscation’ legislation isn’t the only gun control bill St Paul’s unhinged Left wants to pass.
Hovering near the top of Tim Walz and the DFL’s list is passing ‘Universal Background Checks,’ or UBC’s for short.
The Communists masquerading as Democrats want you to believe that UBC’s stop killers, but it’s a bald-faced lie.
The Dayton, OH killer, the Sutherland Springs, TX killer, the Las Vegas killer, the Charleston killer – I could go on and on and on – all passed their background check.
Almost every mass shooter you can think of from the last ten years passed a background check. So if they don’t stop criminals, why does the Left want them so bad?
That’s easy. They want a list of every gun owner in Minnesota!
And that is exactly what Representative Pinto and Senator Ron Latz’ ‘Universal Background Check’ bills would do; create a massive database of gun owners by requiring that every firearms transfer be approved by the government first.
If Walz has his way, you would be a criminal FELON for handing down family firearms to your kids and grandkids without government permission.
You would be a FELON for selling a firearm to a lifelong friend – without government permission.
You would be a FELON for even loaning a firearm to a buddy for deer opener – without government permission!
The 2023 session has barely started, and the Democrats are already launching major efforts to pass these bills in 2023!
Simply put, Walz, Bloomberg and their DFL militant majorities in St. Paul want to be able to track, trace and register gun owners like sex offenders and pave the way for future gun confiscation.
And everybody knows it.
But before you cast your ballot, don’t forget that we still face one hell of a fight in Washington, D.C. this year again, too.
Sure, Nancy Pelosi lost her majority in the House and a Republican will likely get the Speaker’s gavel in the next few days.
But Republicans only preside over a FIVE-seat Republican majority, and as we saw last summer, there are over a dozen Republican traitors already in the House Republican caucus that are willing to vote for gun-control!
And the Leftist machine controlling Joe Biden in D.C. now controls an even bigger majority in the US Senate.
So, they are ‘all in’ on gun control, as Joe Biden promises every time, he gets in front of a Fake News camera.
Either way you look at it, especially when another shooting happens any time in the next two years, you and I are in for a fight in Washington.
The first bill out of the gate will be the newest version of H.R. 2377, the massive ‘Red Flag Gun Confiscation’ bill that would enact federal gun confiscation laws across the country, empowering federal judges to disarm Americans who have never set foot in court, let alone been convicted of a crime.
Just like here in Minnesota, this bill is extremely dangerous because a growing number of Republican Benedict Arnolds already support it!
The Second bill we face will be the so-called “Assault Weapons” ban, and we all know why.
The AR-15 is the best tool available to proud Americans who want to guard against criminals and tyrants alike. It’s lightweight, accurate, holds plenty of ammo, and can be customized to almost any desired specification.
With an estimated 20 million in circulation, the AR-15 is America’s insurance policy against tyranny.
The Marxist Left knows they can’t ever turn our great nation into a communist hellhole — where only the government has guns – when people like you and me own AR15’s.
They simply must outlaw them!
I’m sure you can see why I’m so torn.
If any one of these bills were to pass it would be terrible for law abiding gun owners. If they all pass, the Second Amendment as we know it would be over here in Minnesota.
We need to do everything we can to crush ALL of them.
But I have to be realistic.
And right now, after all that we’ve been through last year, I just don’t have the funds to run a full-scale program on all three of these battles at the same time!
That’s why I’m counting on you to please fill out and return your Minnesota Gun Rights Member Ballot and tell me where to focus the resources that we have.
Of course, when you do so, you’ll notice that I have included another option on your membership ballot — an option that we haven’t talked about yet because it’s just not possible without a major influx of funds.
But I won’t lie, this is the option I hope you choose. That’s OPTION #4: FIGHT AGAINST RED FLAG LAWS, FIGHT AGAINST UNIVERSAL BACKGROUND CHECKS, AND FIGHT EVERY SINGLE BIT OF GUN-CONTROL COMING OUT OF WASHINGTON DC. DO IT ALL!!!!!!!
Please note that if you select this option, I’m hoping that you’ll include a generous donation of $100 or more to make sure that we have the resources we need to engage against all these bills.
I know that’s a lot. But as you can see, everything is on the line this year and we simply can’t fight without your help.
So, if $100 is just too much, won’t you please agree to $75, $50 at least $25 or $10?
The 2023 session of the Minnesota legislature has already kicked off; I need to hear from you as soon as possible!
