Society’s Model Citizens

Since the start of the 2017 session, gun owners across the state have been demanding passage of Constitutional Carry legislation.

Your voice and the voices of thousands of other gun owners across the state have been THUNDERING under the capitol dome in St Paul with all of your phone calls, emails and signed petitions in support for this critical legislation.

But now, Representative Cal Bahr’s HF309 (Constitutional Carry) is being locked down in the House Public Safety Committee by weak-kneed leadership, too scared to stand up against Bloomberg’s anti-gun lobby in St Paul.

When anti-gun radicals talk about folks like you and me, they do their best to make us sound like unhinged, trigger-happy madmen who are just waiting for an opportunity to gun someone down in cold blood.

They say that under Constitutional Carry law, blood will flow in the streets and it’ll be the return of the Wild Wild West as law abiding gun owners suddenly lose their minds and start killing people
.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

We’ve always said that law-abiding gun owners are the absolute best and responsible citizens that society has to offer.

And today I want to share with you a letter that one of our strong supporters sent to Representative Cornish, the Chair of the Public Safety committee that HF309 is being held up in.

Folks like the writer below are fantastic representations of the gun-owning community in Minnesota.

Gun owners across this state deserve REAL pro-gun legislation like Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law.

So please read his email below and when you’re done, TAKE ACTION!

Mr. Cornish:

It has come to my attention that HF309 is stuck in your committee and has not been pushed through to the Rules Committee.

I am curious as to why we, the voters of Minnesota, have placed yet another group of Republicans into power as the majority party, yet we cannot seem to get any of the issues we feel are important to us, the conservative voters in Minnesota, through our legislature.

I and my wife have been watching the political process in St. Paul, and are somewhat pleased with the budget proceedings, but are not very pleased with the process we are seeing with regard to HF309.

I am a handgun permit holder in Minnesota, a U.S. Navy veteran, and a recreational shooter. As we have seen over the past few years, legal carry holders are extremely responsible citizens, because we are acutely aware of the ramifications of shooting another human being, and have no desire to do so, unless in the case of imminent danger of severe bodily harm or death.

As we also know, there has been a tidal wave of undocumented immigrants into our country over the past decade, many of whom are violent criminals and/or otherwise interested in harming unarmed citizens of the U.S.

We permit holders have only one thing in mind as we go about our daily lives – To be prepared to defend ourselves and/or others should the need arise. We know that law enforcement cannot arrive at one of these situations quickly enough to prevent or deter deadly violence to ourselves and/or others.

The friends and family that know I carry are actually quite comfortable knowing that I am armed when with them, even though some were previously against the idea of armed citizenry. They know me, and they know that I would never do anything other than defend myself, or them, with my weapon. But they are glad I have the ability to do so if ever required to protect them.

I realize that the political pressures are enormous regarding gun control, but I think the history of permitting in Minnesota is well established as safe and effective. It’s time to past the Constitutional Carry bill. If this bill makes it to the floor, I will be sending Rep. Hilstrom a letter of encouragement as well.

We will continue to observe the Republican Party and its Representatives as you, hopefully, continue to legislate based upon the principles for which you have been elected. We live in a very Democratic district (Brooklyn Center) and have expressed our views before, but not often satisfied. We, unfortunately, also have no representation in Washington, D.C…. yet.

Legislation at the State level does affect national politics and elections, so we’re hoping to show examples of what the Republican Party can do in Minnesota, use it in the next election cycle for Gubernatorial elections as well as National elections.

Thank you for your time in reading this correspondence.

Best Regards

Because of all of your hard work and activism we have the “pro-gun” majorities that we have today.

There can be no compromise, no deals.
