Candidate Surveys Have Landed in Minnesota!

With the 2018 Primary approaching, I wanted you to be the first to know that the 2018 Minnesota Gun Rights candidate surveys have landed all over Minnesota.

In you don’t know what I’m talking about, our survey program is where we get to ask the candidates the tough questions about where they stand on the Second Amendment.

Of course, as a membership driven organization, these questions are the culmination of the questions you’ve given to us in response to our emails and Facebook videos seeking your input.

You see, since this is Minnesota, nearly EVERYONE running for public office will tell you they are ‘good on guns.’

Frankly, that doesn’t tell you and I anything about what they will do when the pressure really mounts in St Paul once they are safely in office.

As we saw last session, many s-called “pro-gun” Representatives in the legislature were working tooth and nail to cram DOZENS of gun-control bills down our throats, including “Universal Gun Registration”, “Red Flags Orders” (gun seizures) and Linda Slocum’s House File 3022!

That’s why it’s absolutely vital that you and I get the candidates on the record now — when they are running for office and desperate for the support of gun owners.

But make no mistake about it, we are counting on MGR members to help us get the candidates on the record.

That’s why we’ve made it possible for you to print off our 2018 Gun Rights Candidate Questionnaire, so that you can give it to your candidates and ask them to go on the record!

As you’ll see in the survey, this isn’t some powder puff survey where we ask, ‘Do you support the Second Amendment?”

No, we got down into the details of the current issues surrounding the fight for the Second Amendment by asking questions like:

>>> If elected, would you OPPOSE “Universal Gun Registration” legislation that would ban all private party sales and makes criminals out of Minnesota gun owners who want to pass on family firearms to their children and grandchildren – and create a database of gun owners at the same time?

>>> If elected, would you OPPOSE ‘Red Flag Orders’ and similar legislation that would deny law abiding Minnesota citizens their gun rights without due process through a court of law and without ever having been adjudicated as defective or convicted?

>>> Would you support Stand-Your-Ground legislation that allows Minnesota citizens to defend themselves, with force if necessary, from violent criminal attacks that occur in public places without having to retreat, as well as insuring that they can’t be bankrupted by expensive or frivolous lawsuits?

These questions are designed to provide absolutely no wiggle room — either you stand up for gun rights or you are just talking the talk.

Minnesota Gun Rights staff spent the entire 2018 session working the legislature and mobilizing our members to STOP over 30 gun-control bills from passing.

We know, first hand, that our so-called ‘friends’ in the legislature are anything but and spent the entirety of the 2018 legislative session trying to cram gun control down our throats.

So don’t fall for any excuses from your candidates about why they won’t survey like, ‘I voted for a gun bill in 2015,’ or, ‘I grew up hunting, I’m pro-gun,’ or ‘It’s Minnesota, of course I’m pro-gun.’

And don’t let them tell you that they’ve filled out surveys from other “pro-gun” groups in Minnesota and therefore don’t need to fill out this one.

As gun owners know, former anti-gun radical Senators Rod Skoe and Lyle Koenen, who voted to KILL Constitutional Carry during the 2015 session, enjoyed “A” ratings and endorsements from establishment groups like the Minnesota Gun Owners Caucus.

So if they won’t sign this simple 8 question candidate survey from MGR and put their views on paper, that should be a major warning sign to every gun owner in Minnesota!

Please help us put this program into play by:

First, making a contribution to help MGR crank up the heat on candidates who won’t answer the survey!

Second, printing off copies of the survey and handing them to your candidates, insisting that they go on the record.

You can email or mail them back into us once they are completed.

Third, getting your friends and family involved in this process by urging them to help us get these candidates on the record as well.

One of the nice things about living in Minnesota is that we are able to see our legislative candidates at forums and events regularly.

This is your chance to hand them this survey and make sure they understand that you expect them to go on the record as a fighter for the Second Amendment — especially if they want your support!

More to come.

Sincerely,

Ben Dorr

P.S. The 2018 Gun Rights Candidate Questionnaire has landed in the mailboxes of candidates all across the state!

We’re asking everyone seeking legislative office where they stand on the issues facing gun owners today!

Help us get the candidates on the record, by printing off the survey and giving it to them at campaign events!

Remember, if they won’t go on the record now when they need gun owners the most — how do you think they will act once safely in office?
