We spent hours at the capitol yesterday talking with legislators (and their assistants) on the Rules Committee and delivering thousands of your signed petitions in support of Stand-Your-Ground legislation.
But in talking with the sponsor of Stand-Your-Ground (HF238), we received some startling news.
Because of all of the calls, emails and pressure that gun owners like you have been putting on the legislature to pass Stand-Your-Ground legislation, we’ve been told that the votes are there to pass it if the bill ever makes it to the House floor.
In fact, we’re told the only thing holding Stand-Your-Ground back is just a handful of members of the House Rules committee who are digging in their heels and NO.
This is an outrage!
The sheer arrogance that a handful of “pro-gun” politicians think they know better than gun owners and are blocking this self-defense reform from going to the House floor for a vote is unacceptable.
I don’t know about you, but that makes me mad!
If you agree, I hope you’ll do two things right now.
First of all, call and email through the list below and DEMAND that they support and pass HF238, Stand-Your-Ground, out of the Rules Committee and to the House floor for a full vote.
Secondly, when you’re done, please send an emergency contribution to support Minnesota Gun Rights to help run our critical programs.
We need to increase the calls and pressure from gun owners and voters in House District 34A where Representative Peppin is rumored to be blocking this bill.
We also need to turn up the heat on Representative Kiel (01B) and Representative O’Neill (29B) who are also rumored to be waffling on supporting this bill in the Rules committee.
As we said yesterday, time is running out.
We need to act and we need to do it right now.
We know what to do, we just need the resources to pull it off.
